“WARM Hubs” are to continue at venues in Prestatyn and Meliden in March to offer respite to those struggling with the cost of living crisis.

Organised by Prestatyn and Meliden Town Council, the scheme has proved a great success since first launching in November.

It was piloted in November and December, before returning in January and February.

The hubs provide a safe, warm, friendly environment to enjoy social engagement, activities, refreshments, and advice to residents who may facing financial difficulties.

A town council statement read: “Prestatyn Town Council are delighted to announce they have been awarded further funding for an additional four weeks of ‘Warm Hub’ sessions during March 2023.

“Thanks to the support of Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council, Denbighshire County Council, and Croeso Cynnes, the next sessions will commence on Monday, March 6.

Cllr Tina Jones MBE, mayor of Prestatyn and Meliden, said prior to the pilot scheme: “I am so pleased that the council have taken the lead on being one of the first organisations to commit to providing a Warm Hub location.

“This project is to help and support people of our town. It is a wonderful initiative for Prestatyn and Meliden; a Warm Hub, held in friendly environments, in different parts of the town.

“Where, in these difficult times, residents can meet up and have a range of hot food and drinks, and have a chance to meet local organisations with a view of taking up an interest, learn a new skill or receive advice.

“The Warm Hubs are run by wonderful volunteers who we are most grateful to have.”
