A NEW secure dog adventure park is to be opened in Rhuddlan later this year.

Mum-of-two Ashlea Rowlands, from Bodfari, will be the owner of the park, on Abergele Road, which she hopes to open in April.

The park will be situated across 400 metres of agricultural land owned by Ashlea’s grandfather, from which Rhuddlan Castle can be seen.

Planning permission for the park was granted by Denbighshire County Council yesterday (February 20).

Dog owners will be able to hire out the park privately for either 30-minute or one-hour slots, while the site is to be open seven days a week.

Ashlea, who has two Patterdale Terriers, Bobby and Bella, said: “The fences are coming on March 1, so we’re hoping to be open some time in April, fingers crossed.

“We’ve not discussed hours yet, but weather-dependent, I think it’s going to be something like 6am-9pm.

“We’re going to put loads of agility stuff in the field, like a sandpit, for the dogs to do.

“There’s going to be a car park and a shelter there, as well, and we’re going to be doing ‘social days’, so more than one person can come and dogs can socialise with each other.

“I just thought: ‘We’ve got this field, it’s not being used’, so I thought I’d try to diversify things a bit, and put this there instead.

“There aren’t many of them about, and they’re quite in the countryside, so I thought it would be good to have one that’s quite central for everybody.

“We’ve got a caravan in Anglesey, so we like to take Bobby and Bella to an adventure park over there, and they always love going there and running around.”
