February half term is nearly here! If you are a parent or guardian looking for family activities, experiences and events in and around Conwy, then take a look at our guide. 

Half terms runs from Monday, February 20 until Friday, February 24.

Bodnant Garden have been adding to their display of snowdrops for many years, from the Old Park Meadow and through the Yew Dell, right down to the Far End and the Willow Worm maze and picnic area.

Families can enjoy a late winter adventure! And see how many of these beautiful little flowers, sometimes known as ‘Lili Wen Fach’ in Welsh, you can see along the way?  

Once you’ve been for a bracing walk, head to the garden and Pavilion tea-room for a warming drink, open every day from 10am until 4pm, with last entry at 3.30pm.

Dogs welcome on short leads (not extendable) at all times every day until the end of March. 

Gardens open 10am until 4pm each day, last entry 3.30pm.

Normal admission prices apply. 

School of Magic at Gwrych Castle near Abergele

The castle, which hosted ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! In 2020 and 2021 has conjured up a School of Magic this half term! 

The School of Magic is open everyday at Gwrych Castle from 10am - 5pm until February 26.

During your spellbinding time, families and children will meet wild and wacky characters, take part in magical challenges and lessons, and attend a broom flight school.

There is also a magic school scavenger hunt with items hidden throughout the visitor route.

Explore the wonder of nature at the RSPB Conwy

There are plenty of activities running at the RSPB Conwy this half term and all groups are covered: Adults, mums, families and children!

Take your pick from Wild Wednesdays (facts taught about feathered friends, make your own binoculars and a bird hunt); Bug Safari (a look at incredible insects) or FunPlay Friday (den building, chalk drawing, badge making) and much more. 

There is also a Tai Chi Workshop for Adults, Babi Actif: Buggy Active Sessions and Conwy Farmers' Market.

Splash into Half-Term at SC2

There is plenty of family fun to have at Rhyl's SC2.

The leisure complex, on West Parade, is running extended sessions this week and next week.

SC2 features an indoor water park, outdoor splash pad, adventure play, ninja tag as well as areas to dine.

Have a 'wild' time at the Welsh Mountain Zoo!

The Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay is running 'Fab Feb Fun' activities between the February 11 and 26.

Take part in the zoo's love-themed activity worksheet. This is a free activity handed out on arrival. Donations welcome.

Crafts in the WILD centre will be running on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, February 15 from 2.30pm until 3.30pm
  • Friday, February 17 from 11am until 12pm
  • Monday, February 20 from 2pm until 3pm
  • Wednesday, February 22 from 2pm until 3pm
  • Friday, February 24 from 2pm and 3pm

Visitors can stop by and listen to one of the zoo's daily species talks [every day at 11.30am and 2.30pm].

Acro gymnastics, circus hoop day and musical theatre! 

Dance with Cinti is hosting an exciting acro Gymnastics and circus hoop day on Wednesday, February 22 at their new studio in Conwy. The session for ages four to 10 will run until 9am till 1pm and for ages 10 plus, 12pm until 4pm.

There is also a musical theatre camp; youngsters will be able to enjoy dance, drama, singing, games and fun. This is running on Thursday, February 23.

'Have a go!' sessions with Conwy Play Development Team

Conwy Play Team will be back in action this February Half Term! There is 'playful parents' sessions suitable for children aged 0 to five in the mornings, 'playing out' sessions for youngsters aged five to 15 in the afternoons and 'have a go' sessions for children aged 11 plus in the evening. 

Activities will take place at a variety of locations such as Eirias Park, Queens Park in Craig y Don, Oak Tree Centre in Rhyl, Tan y Fron Park in Deganwy and Trefriw play park just to name a few.

Free creative writing session in Abergele

Youngsters aged between eight and 12 years can join Abergele Library for a free creative writing session.

This will be with author Diane Woodrow. 

The event will take place at 2pm on Wednesday, February 22.
