A MAN from Rhyl has been banned from the roads and fined after admitting to drink-driving while in Kinmel Bay.
Shaun Hughes, 28, of Aquarium Street, was accused of driving a Volkswagen Golf vehicle on Cader Avenue with 76 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath on January 15.
He pleaded guilty at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on January 30.
Hughes was disqualified from driving for 22 months, but this will reduce by 22 weeks if he completes a course by April 28, 2024.
The court ordered him to pay a £1,100 fine, a £440 surcharge, and costs to the Crown Prosecution Service of £85.
This totalled £1,625, to be paid in monthly, £300 instalments from February 27.
