STARTING the day in the best possible way has helped to raise thousands of pounds for worthy causes.
The Farmers’ Union of Wales has enjoyed a successful farmhouse breakfast week in aid of charity.
Events throughout Wales were staged between January 23 and 29, with over £16,000 being raised during the week at 25 breakfasts.
Breakfasts locally included ones at Cefn Meiriadog Chapel vestry on January 27, Tŷ Mawr, in Carrog, on January 26 and in Llanuwchllyn Village Hall the following morning.
The FUW’s farmhouse breakfast week is held in order to promote the health benefits of having breakfast, promote the sustainable and nutritious food produced by farmers in Wales and also to have a good catch up before the day starts.
FUW President Glyn Roberts, who also hosted a breakfast event on his farm on January 27, said: “We have enjoyed an immensely successful farmhouse breakfast week and I thank everyone who has supported us and joined us for breakfast.
"It is vital that we keep talking to each other and that we share the load that often wears us down.”
Guto Bebb, the FUW’s chief executive, added: “Staff, elected officials and members of the union have gone above and beyond the call of duty once again.
"Breakfast events across Wales were very well attended and as well as shining a spotlight on maintaining good mental health, also provided an excellent opportunity to speak to our politicians and discuss many of the important farming matters such as the Agriculture (Wales) Bill and the Sustainable Farming Scheme.”
