Many readers took to the Journal’s Facebook page to give their reactions – you can find a selection of them below:
Alison Coates: “(It) will be missed; for me, it is a quick walk into town get my shopping and get it delivered. Now I'll have to drive.
“I’m lucky - many who use Iceland in the town centre don't have access to a car.”
Tasneem Amir: “This is a big loss to the town centre. So many locals shop on foot; (it’s) such a shame it’s going.”
Russell James: “If Iceland came across a decent-sized retail space in town somewhere, I would strongly bet they will open another store in a heartbeat, as customers were never a problem for the store.”
Duncan Nield-Siddall: “It's such a shame, especially for customers who walk there... not everyone has transport.”
William Robert Thorburn: “I work in the centre and the footfall is decreasing every week already. This could be the final nail.”
Christian Rich: “(This) was always going happen. For most (who drive), it’s much more accessible at Clwyd Retail Park. For those who don't, it’s a shame, but there is always online shopping.
“Once trade was up to speed in the new shop, the old ones days were numbered. Hopefully, all staff get redeployed to a new one.”
