PRESTATYN Running Club’s Tom Carter is to return to the place where he shone as a student.

The former track athlete has been selected for the North Wales squad to compete in the CAU inter-counties’ cross-country championships at Loughborough on March 11.

Tom is coming back to form after suffering a slight injury during a track session in Loughborough over Christmas.

Also in the North Wales team are fellow veteran Steve Skates and the club’s ladies’ captain Lisa Lines, both of whom have been in fine form.

A Prestatyn member who has made no secret of his dislike for cross-country is Alex Ryder, and his concentration on road-running is paying off.

He was the club’s sole representative in the Alsager 5-miler on Sunday, a race which attracts a high-quality field and produces fast times. Alex finished 58th overall in a brilliant new PB of 28.10.
