A NUMBER of schools across Denbighshire have confirmed they will be closed while proposed strike action takes place.
Members of the National Education Union (NEU) are due to strike on February 1 on 14, while additional days planned on March 15 and 16.
Denbighshire County Council has so far been informed that the following schools will be closed on February 1:
Primary Schools
- Bodnant Community School, Prestatyn
- Christ the Word Catholic School, Rhyl
- Rhos Street School, Ruthin
- St Asaph VP
- St. Brigid's School, Denbigh
- Ysgol Bodfari, Denbigh
- Ysgol Bryn Collen, Llangollen
- Ysgol Bryn Heddyd, Rhyl
- Ysgol Emmanuel, Rhyl
- Ysgol Esgob Morgan, St Asaph
- Ysgol Frongoch Junior, Denbigh
- Ysgol Hiraddug, Rhyl
- Ysgol Pendref, Denbigh
- Ysgol Y Faenol, Rhyl
Secondary Schools
- Christ the Word Catholic School, Rhyl
- Denbigh High School
- Prestatyn High School
- Rhyl High School
- St. Brigid's School, Denbigh
Additional Learning Needs Schools
- Ysgol Plas Brondyffryn, Denbigh
The council has also been informed that the following schools will be partially closed on February 1:
- Ysgol Borthyn, Ruthin (Primary) - open for Nursery, Reception, and Years Three and Four.
- Ysgol Caer Drewyn, Corwen (Primary) - open for Years Five and Six.
- Ysgol Carrog, Corwen (Primary) - open for Nursery, Reception, and Years One and Two.
- Ysgol Y Parc, Denbigh (Primary) - open for Reception, and Years One and Two.

Proposed strike action may affect Denbighshire schools, council says
Prestatyn High School headteacher, Neil Foley, wrote in a letter addressed to parents and posted on the school’s website: “This decision has not been taken lightly and follows a thorough risk assessment of the situation.
“The school needs a certain number of staff to be present to function and keep everybody safe.
“Due to the nature of the industrial action, no online learning will take place on the day of the strike.”
