A MAN is to avoid alcohol for a period of time and complete unpaid work after admitting assaulting a policeman.
Thomas Smith, 26, of Hindley Green, Wigan, was accused of the following at St Asaph Custody on August 28, 2022:
- Common assault of Mike Jones, a police constable.
- Failing to provide police with a specimen of his breath.
He had pleaded guilty to both offences on September 26, 2022.
At Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on January 11, Smith was handed 130 hours’ unpaid work, to be completed by January 10, 2024.
The court ordered him to abstain from consuming alcohol for 120 days.
Smith is to pay £150 in compensation and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
This totalled £235, to be paid as a full lump sum within 28 days.
An application was made for deductions from his benefits.
