A PRESTATYN hairdresser and wig supplier who ended 2022 on a high is looking to put some big plans into action this year.

Rebecca Morgan-Brennan, who runs Morgan's Hair, Beauty and Wigs in Prestatyn and Chester, was a finalist at four events last year and she secured three wins. Rebecca was named champion awareness campaigner at the North West Cancer Awards; Silver Winner in the Welsh Business Woman of the Year category at the National Business Women's Awards 2022 and Female of the Year at the Creme de la Creme Cheshire Business Awards. From the latter, Rebecca also won an incredible £10,000 investment.

With the money, she intends on creating an app that people can visit and input concerns about hair loss, hair thinning, treatment for cancer as well as any medical or health problems to do with hair loss, and be able to find information.

Rebecca said: "2022 was a phenomenal year. The first award we won was at the North West Cancer Awards so that was amazing for us to be recognised for the work we do for cancer patients [with regards to the wig service] and the 'look and feel better' which we have been running for a number of years. We hope to re-start this workshop this year, hopefully by Easter time.

"The Cheshire one, deep down, I wanted that one. Just any award at that one. Then there was the opportunity to win the £10,000 prize. We took some of our staff and treated them to a night away and it was a really wonderful event. We couldn't believe we won, out of all the worthy winners on the night, we were the overall winner and to be recognised again, our team, and to be there on the night for all of us, it was just out of this world."

In 2022, Rebecca set herself a number of goals: To open a training academy, which she achieved, to grow the wig service even more and still supply the NHS wig contract.

Rebecca is developing her new app with the help of someone from the Cheshire Business team. The app will take a good "chunk" of the £10,000.

"It will have everything that I know on it. I'm working closely with a trichologist who also comes to our salon once a month in Chester," Rebecca said.

"I'm working closing with lots of suppliers who I have worked with for wigs. Lots of people who I have trained. All over the UK.

"If people have got a problem, through the app, they will be signposted and will be able to go to their nearest location to get help and support. There will also be a question and answer service on the app."

Any funds remaining from the £10,000 will go towards travelling, allowing Rebecca and her team to find their own wig supplier factory and manufacturer that will help them create wigs in their own style and in colours wanted.

Rebecca hopes these plans can come a reality by 2024.

"We will be able to distribute them in the UK," Rebecca said.

"We are hoping to have a distribution centre so we can supply lots of other wig salons. We are hoping to also get some really good quality wigs that are affordable as well.

"Also this year, we are going to be supplying a lot more NHS Trusts and just continue to grow. We have one of our team members, Sara Mcpherson, who has been working on her masters on being a colour expert for Alfaparf, an Italian brand of colours and products we use. We will be taking her to Milan in March so she can complete her course and be a colour expert. That is super exciting for her and it is such a phenomenal achievement.

"We are also looking at working with other people to come and do training at our academy and also to have more availability for college students to come and learn about hair loss."

This year Morgan's Hair, Beauty and Wigs is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
