A YOUNG grey seal was found on Rhyl Beach by a resident last weekend.
The resident, who asked not to be named, said they saw the creature, shown in the below video, at 2pm on Saturday (January 7).
They said: “There were a few people dog-walking, but we didn’t get close as we didn’t want to scare it.
“(It was) by Splash Point; we were all very careful. I hope this baby is safe now."
Frankie Hobro, director of Anglesey Sea Zoo, said: “It isn’t a very close-up shot at all, but I am pretty sure this is a grey seal. It looks like a youngster.
“If it was Rhyl Beach, then it’s unlikely to be any other species, as grey seals dominate most of the North Welsh coast and sightings of common seals are extremely rare.
“Youngsters like this one often haul out in unusual places while it is squid and will disappear back into the sea in haste when disturbed.”
