TOM McCready’s stoppage time winner earned Colwyn Bay a dramatic 3-2 win at Prestatyn Town in the JD Cymru North.

The captain’s winner secured a 16th successive league victory for the Seagulls, extending their lead at the top of the table to nine points.

Cai Owen had earlier scored twice in his 51st appearance for the Bay to give the side a 2-0 interval lead at Bastion Gardens.

His first was a first time finish from a tight angle and his second, a left footed finish, came following good work by Craig Lindfield.

Bay could have been three goals up at the break, but saw a penalty from Linfield saved by Josh Cooke.

Prestatyn responded after the break, with Tom Hilditch pulling a goal back three minutes into the second half before Dan Atkins levelled with 16 minutes left.

But McCready’s late winner in injury time secured the win, running onto a flick on and slotting past Cooke to maintain Bay’s winning run.

Colwyn Bay manager Steve Evans said: “Massive three points. They are the games that win you the league.

“First half we were the dominant team and we could have gone 3-0 up with the penalty but didn’t and to be fair to them they came out second half and really had a go at us and caused us all kinds of problems.

“They’ll be gutted but we believe in the process and we keep going – we’ve done it two or three times this season and it just shows the belief and the character within the squad.”
