FIREFIGHTERS and police officers were in attendance at an incident in Rhyl this afternoon (January 5).
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it involved a “fire at a commercial premises” on the town's High Street.
Neighbouring properties were unaffected but evacuated as a precautionary measure.
A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called to a fire at a commercial premises on High Street at 1.21pm.
“The incident has now been scaled down, with one appliance remaining at the scene carrying out final checks.
“It involved a small fire which was contained to a flat roof area.
“Police also attended, with cordons in place.
“Neighbouring properties were not affected, but were evacuated as a precaution.”
A North Wales Police spokesperson added that officers were called “to assist the fire service with crowd control”.
An eyewitness took the above picture at about 2.20pm.
They added: “Emergency services were closing Sussex Street, from the church down to the High Street on both sides at the Piazza cafe and Costa on the opposite side.
“I tried to get more pictures from the High Street end, but police were moving people away.”
