A FORMER North Wales journalist died days after being bitten by a dog.
Mark Jones, 61, of Highbury Avenue, Prestatyn died at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd on December 8.
At County Hall in Ruthin on Tuesday (December 20) an inquest was opened into the death of the former journalist.
The inquest opening heard that Mr Jones had visited the emergency department at Glan Clwyd on December 7, because he felt "shocking".
Mr Jones had been bitten by a dog around four days before.
Senior coroner for North Wales east and central, John Gittins said it was "probable" he had developed a sepsis infection as a result of the bite.
Despite the best efforts of hospital staff, Mr Jones died the day after. Mr Gittins concluded a probable cause of death of multi-organ failure due to the sepsis infection.
The hearing was adjourned until a later date.
During his career as a journalist, Mr Jones worked for the Rhyl Journal, North Wales Pioneer and North Wales Chronicle newspaper.
He was also Prestatyn Town Football Club's vice-chairman and Prestatyn Town, and the “football aficionado” also owned The Beautiful Game - a football memorabilia shop on Prestatyn High Street.
More recently he worked at St Melyd Golf Club.
