THREE generations of one family have given the Santa Train at Rhyl Minature Railway an upgrade.

Justin Bell, his daughter Kathryn and his mum Mari pulled out all the stops to rebuild and revamp one of the train's coaches.

Mr Bell, trustee at Rhyl Minature Railway at Marine Lake, said: "We stripped the old body back down to the frames and a new taller body to aid people getting in and out has been built. The level of the floor has been lifted up so it is now easy and level to get into the coach and it has had an upgrade on the seats so they have changed from wooden planks to fully cushioned seats.

"The body work was all done inhouse by our main coach building team which includes myself, my daughter Kathryn Bell and the other volunteers helped with the massive task of painting the body with many coats of paint.

"Mari Bell also was a massive help by making all the seat covers, so three generations of one family have come together to get it ready for Father Christmas's visit."

The Santa Train is very popular. There are spaces left for visitors on December 22 and 23. The rest of the days are sold out.

Every child will meet santa during the train ride and will receive a gift.
