THE Welsh Chamber Orchestra is to perform in Rhyl later this month.
Led by conductor Anthony Hose, and baritone Jeremy Huw Williams, the orchestra will perform at Rhyl Town Hall on Wednesday, December 14.
Tickets cost £15 for the concert, which will be from 7.30-9.15pm.
It will include renditions of:
• Mendelssohn – Sinfonia No. 10 in B Minor.
• Gareth Olubunmi Hughes – ‘Tonnau’ (waves) – four songs in Welsh. The poet is Llyr Gwyn Lewis, who won the Chair at Eisteddfod yr Urdd (2010, 2022).
• Vaughan Williams – Five variants of Dives and Lazarus.
• Schubert – Symphony No. 5 in Bb major.
Anthony Hose began piano lessons aged three and gave his first recital aged six.
He studied at the Royal College of Music in London, majoring in piano, harpsichord and conducting, additionally studying clarinet and double bass.
He continued his conducting studies in Salzburg, and later with Rafael Kubelik in Munich and Geneva.
For BBC television, he has conducted Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the world premiere of The Servants by William Mathias.
He has given orchestral, opera, and Lieder masterclasses throughout Europe and is director of orchestras at Stetson University in Florida.
