THE FORMER Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams gave a masterclass in prayer at St Asaph Cathedral last night (November 7).
Mr Williams, who also goes by the title Baron Williams of Oystermouth, served as the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury from December 2002 to December 2012.
The Welshman hails from Swansea, and was the first Archbishop in modern times not to be appointed from within the Church of England.
He had been invited to the Cathedral by the Diocese of St Asaph’s Spirituality Group, which provides information, resources and organises events to help people deepen their relationship with God, wherever they are on their journey.

The group’s chair, Reverend Dr Sally Harper, said: “We are delighted that one of the most inspirational thinkers and speakers on the subject of spirituality accepted our invitation to come to St Asaph Cathedral.
“Rowan Williams has written extensively and very accessibly on the subject of prayer.”
More than 200 people gathered at the Cathedral to hear Dr Williams offer insights, inspiration and techniques for prayer.
