A NUDE calendar has been made to help raise funds towards a free Christmas community event which has been organised in Rhyl for the fourth successive year.

Steve Ridyard, who owns Peter Ridyards Second Hand Dealers in the town, organised both the calendar and the community event, and has just passed the halfway mark to his target of raising £10,000 for charity.

Steve himself got his kit off to feature in the calendar, which was shot by People and Pets Photography, as did former Rhyl county councillor Brian Jones, as well as a number of Steve’s friends and fellow community event helpers.

A total of 200 copies of the calendar will be available, and can be bought via the Rhyl Wings Projects’ Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/rhylwingsprojects.

Christmas Eve free community event to be held once again in Rhyl

Steve said: “It wasn’t the easiest thing to do in 48 hours, but we pulled it off. It was really good, to be fair – we’ve got Brian Jones with a Winston Churchill hat and briefcase for April!

“We’re definitely in the right direction for £10,000. I’m going to push every boat out to reach that.

“We’ve ordered 200 calendars – we’ve sold about 80 already and we’ve not even got them yet! If you make people laugh or cry, I don’t mind it – my goal is just to hit that £10,000 mark.”

The calendar has also been sponsored by seven businesses, all of whom have chipped in with £100 donations each, with space for one more sponsor.

This year’s Christmas event, at Holy Trinity Church and St Thomas’ Church grounds in Rhyl, will run from 11am until 3pm on December 24, with all donations of either money or goods welcome.

The Salvation Army will be in attendance to provide festive sounds, while there will also be a bouncy castle, face painting, Spider-Man, Batman, Pikachu and much more.

Santa and his elves will also be giving out free presents to children, while free hot and cold refreshments will be provided.

Last year, money raised was split five ways, between the Salvation Army, Rhyl Lifeboat Station, Holy Trinity Church, The Kings Storehouse foodbank in Rhyl, and Rhyl Fire Station.

Any donations, such as toiletries, clothes, sleeping bags, and children’s toys, would also be appreciated.

Steve added: “Over 700 people came last year, and we donated over 120 presents to Glan Clwyd Hospital. It’s gone beyond where I thought it would go.

“I’m definitely going to try to push for a million next Christmas!”
