“WARM Hubs” are to be set up at various venues in Prestatyn and Meliden during November and December to provide daytime respite for those struggling with the cost of living crisis.
The hubs will offer a safe, warm, and friendly environment to enjoy social engagement, activities, refreshments, and information/advice services to assist residents who may facing difficulties funding the cost of heating their own homes.
Organised by Prestatyn and Meliden Town Council, a pilot scheme is being operated during a six-week period starting next week (during weekdays).
The opening times vary at each site, and sessions range between three and five hours per day.
For further information on the hubs, please email Prestatyn Town Council at: events@prestatyntc.co.uk.

Volunteers are offering their time to serve refreshments at all sites, which will include soup/meals, drinks, and snacks, all free of charge.
Representatives from various organisations are being engaged to visit the sites and offer advice, and inform about different types of benefits that people may be entitled to but have not considered.
Additionally, to help engage both young and old, games and other social activities including crafts, line dancing and music will be offered to encourage a healthy interaction between the community.
At the end of the six-week period, an evaluation of the pilot scheme will take place, to reflect where it has been successful, and areas of improvement.
This will then lay the foundations for how best to continue the sessions throughout the winter into 2023.

Cllr Tina Jones MBE, mayor of Prestatyn and Meliden, said: “I am so pleased that the council have taken the lead on being one of the first organisations to commit to providing a Warm Hub location.
“This project is to help and support people of our town. It is a wonderful initiative for Prestatyn and Meliden; a Warm Hub, held in friendly environments, in different parts of the town.
“Where, in these difficult times, residents can meet up and have a range of hot food and drinks, and have a chance to meet local organisations with a view of taking up an interest, learn a new skill or receive advice.
“The Warm Hubs are run by wonderful volunteers who we are most grateful to have.
“Thank you to all involved, and I will try and visit each setting throughout the six weeks, and hope the kettle will be on for a brew.”
