A HOSPICE based in St Asaph is to open a new charity shop selling “preloved items” in Rhyl next week.
St Kentigern Hospice is holding a grand opening of the “Preloved Warehouse”, which will be found on Wellington Road, on Thursday, October 27 at 11am.
The shop will be based on the theme of shopping for “preloved” items, and reusing and recycling being good for the environment.
All the while, it will raise money for the growing need of end of life care, which the hospice delivers.
Next Thursday’s event is a “ribbon-cutting” opening and a “shopping experience”, plus a row of stands to show the hospice’s fundraising activities, the St Kentigern Lottery, volunteering opportunities, and its Caffi Cariad café.
The hospice’s clinical team will be well-represented, while classic cars will feature on the car park as people arrive.
Meliden-based Spencer Wilding (Darth Vader, Hagrid, stunt double) will cut the ribbon, while the mayor of Rhyl, Cllr Diane King, is also due to attend.

Janet Hill, responsible for hospice communications at St Kentigern, credited retail manager Val Corner with overseeing the development of the new store.
She said: “Val was responsible for the move of the warehouse from our former premises in Bodelwyddan to the huge new store in Rhyl.
“She coordinated a sizeable and hardworking team of volunteers to make it happen - very impressive!”
Val added: “The preloved market is booming, fuelled by the current cost of living increases and the growing popularity of ethical buying.
“We are experiencing growth in younger people buying used and vintage products.
"Preloved shopping lowers the impact of the things we consume by reusing items that already exist.”
Iain Mitchell, hospice chief executive, added: “Today, we can buy almost anything pre-owned.
“Our charity has nine local retail shops that raise money for our specialist end-of-life services.
"Many people are motivated by spending in a shop that supports a charity, and everyone loves a bargain.
"We are excited to welcome the public to the Preloved Warehouse grand opening event."
