THE cladding at the SC2 water park in Rhyl is to be repaired following damage caused to it by weather earlier in 2022.
Storms in mid-February caused damage to the roof of the facility, on West Parade, while the site of the building is also in need of repair.
Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, who is responsible for the site, say the repair works were not carried out earlier due to the potential disruption may cause, given SC2 was consistently sold out in the summer.
But the repairs are now set to get underway as soon as possible, with little to no disruption anticipated.
SC2 said: “You may have noticed that SC2 Rhyl’s cladding is in need of repair.
“Due to a combination of high winds and rough weather earlier in the year when the roof was damaged, the side of our building had also been compromised.
“Due to the fact SC2 was constantly sold out on a daily basis during the summer, we didn’t want to disappoint any of our customers by having to close the waterpark to repair the building, which is purely a cosmetic issue.
“The contractors are looking to get this repaired as soon as possible.

Family told to leave Rhyl water park after entering pool without paying
“Whilst we understand it does not look great at the moment, it does not impact on any of the exceptional customer experience within the building that SC2 has become renowned for; and the outer parts of the building will soon be back to normal.
“During the works, we anticipate minimal disruption, if any, but accessing the elevation will be weather-dependant.
“We will endeavour to keep people informed, and we look forward to people attending for our up-and-coming ‘spooktacular’ Halloween offers, whilst we also ramp up to an exciting Christmas once again at SC2.”
In August, a family were asked to leave SC2 after entering the premises without paying.
The £15million water park opened in 2019, and also includes a soft play area and “Ninja TAG”.
