ON FRIDAY (October 7), the Journal visiting Denbighshire County Council's Bodelwyddan depot of electric vehicles (EVs), and charging points set up in Prestatyn and near completion in Rhyl.
The council's Bodelwyddan fleet has 28 live EVs, used by such services as highways and maintenance, waste, traffic teams, and social services.
It is also used for public transport, such as taxis for school runs, or its 16-seater, demand-responsive minibus based in Ruthin; the only one of its kind in the UK.
In Rhyl, the first EV charging park of its kind in Wales, and the second-largest in the UK (36 charger points), is expected to go live at West Kinmel Street Car Park in November.
In Prestatyn, two public charging points have been installed at Kings Avenue short stay car park, and have been operating with great success since June.
