NEW research revealed that North Wales is the area with the 10th-fewest burglaries in England and Wales.
Home security experts at ADT looked at the number of residential burglaries per 1,000 people for the year ending March 2022 in England and Wales to establish which areas are the most burgled.
The top 10 least-burgled areas in England and Wales were:
1. Devon and Cornwall (2.0 burglaries per 1,000 people)
2. Sussex (3.2)
3. Norfolk (3.4)
4. North Yorkshire (3.6)
5. Wiltshire (3.6)
6. Dyfed-Powys (3.9)
7. Cumbria (4.0)
8. Suffolk (4.1)
9. Staffordshire (4.6)
10. North Wales (4.7)

The research also made the following findings:
• Most home burglaries in England and Wales happen during the week. A total of 70 per cent of all residential break-ins occurred on a weekday.
• 24 per cent of all burglaries are committed by someone the victim knows well. This could be a friend, family member or neighbour that knows your routine.
• On average, a burglary in England and Wales costs £2,856.
