THE OWNER of the Green Island Bistro in Rhuddlan has spoken of her delight after the business was nominated for Vegetarian Restaurant of the Year.
The bistro is one of ten eateries across Wales up for the award, which is a category of the Welsh Restaurant Awards.
Other nominees include Voltaire Vegan in Bangor, Soul Spice in Pontypridd and The Atma Lounge in Cardiff.
The restaurant has already won one award this year, being named the Best Bistro/Café (North Wales) at the Food Awards Wales.
Owner Sara Turner said yesterday’s nomination was a ‘huge surprise’, adding: “I never imagined being nominated for another award so soon.
“Being entered into the vegetarian/vegan category is extra special and we are among some fantastic other vegan businesses such as Voltaire and The Eating Gorilla.
“Business is very unpredictable for everyone at the moment so this is a welcome piece of positive news during a tough time for the hospitality industry.”
The black-tie awards ceremony will take place in October in Cardiff, with more details to follow.
