A vlogger’s tour of Wales’ worst-rated holiday park in Prestatyn has revealed more issues with the place as the park comes under fire from former guests.
In the last few weeks, several former guests at Pontins Prestatyn have criticised the state of the holiday park, with one family vowing to “never go back”, two friends finding a dead mouse and pubic hairs in their room during an “awful” weekend, and another family labelling it an “absolute mess”.
If that wasn’t enough to put you off – there is more.
Damp and smelly toilets, a mattress covered in urine stains, hairs on supposedly fresh duvets and pillows, and greasy worktops were just some of the reasons Pontins Prestatyn was labelled “gross” by YouTuber Walk With Me Tim.
The tourism vlogger stayed the night there in April this year, before the recent revelations came out, and was given a room on block B of the site, paying £69 for a budget room.
Upon entry, Tim inspected the bathroom, which he said had a “damp” smell, with no windows and just an extractor fan to help de-condense the space.

The bed, which was not made (they rarely are at Pontins – guests make their own using the bedding provided or their own from home), was just a “gross” mattress covered in stains which felt “really dirty to touch”.
The stains on the mattress were a brown-yellow colour, with Tim perhaps rightly speculating that they were “wee stains or some kind of soiled substance”.
Tim found “loads of hair” on the duvet and pillows, some of which was pubic, and the pillows smelt like someone else had laid on them,
Looking for a slightly less negative slant on the situation, Tim simply added: “When you come on holiday, the last thing you want to do is make your own bed.”

Some worktops were greasy, with food on the stove, the fridge smelt, and kitchen utensils and pans were left with some food still on them, and were rusted in places.
Furthermore, the £69 charge for the stay did not cover Tim’s electricity, which would be an additional charge depending on how much he wanted on the meter.
When walking around the grounds, Tim then showed empty apartments being used for storage, with mattresses and quilts being kept in rooms that weren’t being used.
With paint coming off the Queen Victoria Pub, and half of one of its signs missing, the Park seemed almost forgotten about, with even the P on one of the Pontins welcome signs missing.

The view from Tim's balcony was one of a bin disposal area, where fences had been torn down and garbage had been left to overflow and litter the floor.
There were some positives to the site, with Tim praising the entertainment value, and adding that “one good thing about the site is that you can’t get lost”.
In his summary at the end, Tim said: “So the room overall I paid cheap, obviously one person staying for one night.
“Yes, the fridge did smell a little bit bad. Yes, the bed had those stains on it. The bathroom was actually ok, and the cutlery draw and the frying pans – they all needed to be thrown out and have some new ones put in there.
“Obviously the outside of the building, cosmetics, yes it could do with some TLC.
“I grew up watching Holiday on the Buses, and it’s such a shame to see how this site has lost its touch.”
