A NEW sandwich shop has opened in Rhyl selling a wide range of sandwiches, pies and breakfast packages.

Casey’s Sandwich Shop began trading Vale Road almost two months ago, and is the creation of husband and wife Stewart and Emma Casement.

With both bringing different skills to the table, the sandwich shop has become an instant success story.

“We’re both local. We were both born in Rhyl,” said Emma.

“Stew is a professional chef of 30 years, and I’ve always been in admin, so it was a no-brainer.

“When we got together six years ago, Stew came off the ship (where he had been in the kitchen) to marry me and we just decided about a year ago ‘why don’t we do a sandwich shop?’ – so that’s what we’ve done."

Casey’s is not just a sandwich and toastie hub, with a large focus on breakfast boxes which have proven to be the most popular choice among customers.

The breakfast boxes come in five sizes, with a vegetarian option also available.

Casey’s also sell a range of wraps, pies, homemade soups, pasta boxes and daily specials, as well as cakes.

They also do outside catering, and take buffet bookings for all kinds of events, from private dinner parties and weddings to birthday parties, christenings and funerals.

Seven weeks into trading, Emma says the shop is becoming more and more popular.

“With Stew having the experience he has, he prepped me quite a lot before we even walked into the shop,” she said.

“Each week keeps getting better.

“With a standalone sandwich shop, you wouldn’t make what you need to (financially), but because of the outside catering, we’ve had so much business having kept it at a low price.

“We’ve kept the cost down, we’ve had repeat business, word-of-mouth.

“Stew has gone around different suppliers to find the best produce, so just because it is a good price does not mean the food cannot be as good.”
