BEACHES in North Wales have been ranked as some of the best in the country according to social media platform TikTok in a new study.
With the school summer holidays in full swing, Parkdean Resorts has revealed the top 10 beaches in Wales according to TikTok to enjoy this summer.
West Shore Beach in Llandudno came third, while Shell Island in Gwynedd was fifth, Abersoch Beach (Gwynedd) ranked sixth, Tywyn Beach (Gwynedd) was placed eighth, Portmeirion Beach (Gwynedd) was ninth, and Barmouth Beach (Gwynedd) came 10th.
The study analysed TikTok data to see which is the most “hashtagged” and viewed beaches on the app to reveal the most aesthetic and best beaches in Wales.

Searches for “Wales holiday” have spiked by 26 per cent in the last month as travellers flock to the country for the summer, but it’s the beaches that have really grown in popularity.
Searches for “Wales beach” have risen by 41 per cent to 33,000 searches as people head to the sunny shores.
Here’s what the study had to say about each of the above beaches:
West Shore Beach, Llandudno - 11.1million views
“Ranked on TikTok as the third most popular beach in Wales, this is also regarded as a quieter location so coupled with its sandy shores, it has become extremely popular with visitors.”
Shell Island, Gwynedd - 5.5million views
“This stunning North Welsh beach boasts brilliant views of sand and countryside.
“Close to Snowdonia National Park, it’s no surprise the beach has racked up 5.5million views as social media users look for inspiration for their next adventure.”
Abersoch Beach, Gwynedd - 4.5million views
“This long sandy beach is perfect for a family day out.
“Ideal for swimming with safe conditions (no waves or rips in normal conditions) makes this east -acing beach a popular tourist destination, as it tops 4.49million views on TikTok.”
Tywyn Beach, Gwynedd – 2.9million views
“This golden beach taking eighth place has garnered an impressive 2.9million views on TikTok.
“Translated from Welsh as ‘seaside and sand dunes’, that’s exactly what this miles of beach delivers.”
Portmeirion Beach, Gwynedd - 2.8million views
“With soft sands, this beach is perfect for relaxing, as TikTok viewers have watched the beach 2.8million times.”
Barmouth Beach, Gwynedd – 2.4million views
“As the most popular seaside resort in South Snowdonia, it’s no surprise to see Barmouth Beach taking the last spot in the top 10 beaches with 2.4million views.”
Topping the list was Freshwater West Beach in Pembrokeshire, with 341million views.
Data was pulled in July, looking at views and hashtags for every single listed beach in Wales according to the UK Beach List (www.thebeachguide.co.uk/beach-list).
