A MAN died after losing control of his mobility scooter and falling from a promenade, an inquest opening heard.
Richard Jones, of Ffordd Idwal in Prestatyn, died in hospital a week after the incident which took place on Sunday, August 7.
The 78-year-old retired engineer fell from a height of around eight feet down a sea defence.

The exact location of the promenade was not revealed at the inquest opening held at Ruthin County Hall on Monday (August 23).
Mr Jones' mobility scooter landed on top of him, the hearing was told.
He was taken to the emergency department at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd just after 4pm on day of the accident.
But, Mr Jones' condition declined thereafter and he passed away at the hospital six days later on Saturday, August 13.
A pathologist's provisional cause of death is subdural haematoma due to a fall from height, the inquest opening was told.
A full inquest was adjourned to a future date pending further investigations.
