FROM stamps and envelopes into a hive of crafting activity, the old post office building in Dolgarrog, Conwy Valley has a rather different look to it these days.

Little more than two years ago, Sharon Adams and Clive Jones opened “Hub Dolgarrog” at the premises – which, by their own admission, has grown into their own little “TARDIS”.

Situated on the main road through Dolgarrog, opposite Adventure Park and Hilton Garden Inn Snowdonia, the shop is open every day of the week (including Bank Holidays) from 11am – 3pm.

Whether it’s cushions or cakes, jams or jewellery you’re after, Sharon and Clive’s store has something for everyone.

Sharon said: “The shop is a ‘TARDIS’ of spaces and stalls used by over 35 local crafters.

“If you are looking for gifts or wanting to treat yourself, you will find hand-crafted greeting cards, cushions, decoupage, felted, acrylic and wood turned items, plus cakes, jams, chutneys, along with crocheted, knitted and sewn clothes and toys.

“There is also a vast range of jewellery, again all handcrafted by locals.

“There is a large area at the back of the shop offering vintage furniture and household items. If you are looking for an ornament for your garden, we have them too.

“The shop is manned by the crafters themselves, who are able to help you with any queries you may have about the goods on sale, or be able to contact specific crafters if you have a special request.

“You will find everything you need all under the one roof, and everything is very reasonably priced.”

In some ways, Sharon and Clive are having to make up for lost time, though – Hub Dolgarrog opened just prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020.

But when forced into closure due to lockdown, Clive, who oversees the running of the store, took this opportunity to give the site a fresh new look, much to Sharon’s delight.

Sharon added: “The shop was set up just before COVID hit and was not open for long before it went into lockdown.

“During that time, Clive took the opportunity to re-vamp the inside of the building, decorated it and moved the spaces around ready for when it re-opened in February 2022.

“It is now much more welcoming and very well set out.”
