ITV’s Benidorm actor Jake Canuso and Coronation Street star Lottie Henshall have been confirmed as the headline acts in a new Aladdin pantomime production at Rhyl Pavilion Theatre this Christmas.

Despite the original plan to present Peter Pan at Rhyl Pavilion Theatre, it has now been confirmed that this year’s Christmas panto will instead be based on the tale of Aladdin.

The production will run at the theatre from December 10-31.

Jake, who is most famous for his role as the Spanish waiter Mateo in Benidorm, will star as the wicked Abanazar.

Aiding him as the Spirit of the Ring is Lottie Henshall, who plays John Stape’s daughter, Jade Rowan, in Coronation Street.

Lottie has also toured in the international production of Mamma Mia, covering the lead role of Sophie.

Audiences can expect two hours and 15 minutes of toe-tapping song and dance, colourful costumes, fantastic sets and special effects, all wrapped up in a laugh-a-minute script.

Jamie Groves, managing director of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, said “We are delighted to be working in association with Anton Benson Productions for this year’s Christmas panto.

“Our technical team work extremely hard at making our auditorium feel like a magical place for families during Christmas time, and this year we are excited to have our Christmas panto back in full swing, without the worry of restrictions.”

A full supporting cast, including further star casting, is to be revealed by Anton Benson Productions in the coming weeks, alongside the creative team and the musicians who will make up the live band.

Producer Anton Benson said: “We have been working with Rhyl Pavilion Theatre on projects since 2016, including the filming of our 2020 online panto during the pandemic, and so it is an honour and privilege to now be asked to produce their Christmas panto.

“I have seen several Christmas shows at Rhyl Pavilion and I know how much the local audiences love their panto.

“I look at the previous panto producers Rhyl Pavilion have worked with and I know the standard we aim to surpass.”
