A TRACTOR carrying bales of hay overturned on the A525 in Denbighshire yesterday afternoon (August 14).
This was at the roundabout between Sainsbury’s and the Rhuddlan bypass, shortly after 5.30pm.
The road was closed until almost 90 minutes after the incident had been reported.
Eyewitness Nichola White saw the trailer overturned while travelling with her fiancé Stephen Bradley, taking the above photo immediately after the incident.
She added that “Luckily, no one was hurt”.
Nichola said: “As we were driving towards the roundabout from Sainsbury’s, we saw the tractor drive around the roundabout from the flyover (KFC way) to the Rhuddlan/Prestatyn turning.
“I said to Stephen that I hate trailers carrying bales of hay - they scare me. As the tractor turned off, the trailer swerved side to side before fully tipping over.
“The tractor didn't seem to be driving fast or anything; I'm not really sure what happened.
“As it hit the floor, it did so with a huge thud and the poor driver was flung back and forth in his tractor.
“I put my hazard lights on and stayed there while I phoned 999. Stephen ran over to check on the driver; he was OK, apart from some cuts to his elbows.
“Luckily, a patrol car passed shortly after, so they parked behind me with their lights on letting us be on our way - there wasn't much more we could do.
“We drove past about an hour after and most of the hay was cleared, the driver looked OK, and the police were controlling the traffic.
“The traffic was backed up passed the 'One Stop' on Rhuddlan Road, so it was passing very slowly. Luckily, no one was hurt, it was just one of those things.”
