A GROUP of travellers who parked by Rhyl’s East Parade promenade have left the site after as many as 11 vehicles were seen there at one time.
An eyewitness told the Journal that they departed yesterday (August 2) at roughly 11.30am, with the first of them having arrived at roughly 2.45pm on July 29.
It is not known if these were the same group of travellers who departed East Parade promenade on July 27 after, according to the eyewitness, “they arrived on Sunday (July 24)” and “have driven over the grass and ignored all signage”.
The eyewitness believes at least some of the travellers relocated to Pensarn Beach.
The eyewitness said: “They left yesterday morning at about 11.30am.
“In Abergele, there’s an underpass, and as I was coming out of the street, I saw a couple of the caravans come over to Pensarn Beach, past the railway station, over the bridge.
“I looked to my right and they’d gone down, virtually on to the beach behind the train station.”
Though, a Conwy County Borough Council spokesperson told the Journal that, after checking at Pensarn today, no travellers were still present there.

The eyewitness added that the travellers appeared amicable while parked by East Parade promenade, saying: “Each morning, there were a couple of people who came out (of their tents and vehicles) and picked up the rubbish left from the night before.
“The council brought them three or four bins.
“But I just think, if I parked my car there, or drove over the kerb, I’m sure I’d get a ticket, fined, or points on my licence.”
Prior to their departure, Denbighshire County Council (DCC) had provided those travelling in the vehicles with bins and access to toilets.
A DCC spokesperson said: “Following our response to travellers who had parked without consent on East Parade Promenade Rhyl, we are now aware that they have left the area.
“No further action was required by us.”
On numerous occasions last summer, motorhomes were found to be parked illegally near the Eisteddfod Standing Stones in Rhyl.
