THE new Rhyl-based Zip World attraction, the “Skyflyer”, has been deflated after its official launch was delayed.

The airship, to be located along the beachfront, was due to open to the public on August 3, after its launch was put back from July 21 after wind and weather conditions were not ideal to perform the first full inflation.

But Zip World announced on Friday (July 29) that it has had to delay its first take-off again after an “engineering and design challenge” was noticed during testing.

On Wednesday (July 27), residents from across Denbighshire could see the Skyflyer being inflated near Rhyl’s Pavilion Theatre.

This morning (August 1), though, it was deflated following the postponement.

No new date has been announced for the Skyflyer’s launch yet.

A statement from Zip World read: “We are sorry to announce that the launch of our newest attraction, Skyflyer, has been postponed until further notice.

“During our rigorous testing process, we identified an engineering and design challenge which will need to be addressed before our customers can enjoy the attraction.

“We will announce a new date for launching Skyflyer once we are satisfied it meets our standards.

“At Zip World, we strive to bring our customers unique and world-first experiences, and we’re looking forward to adding Skyflyer to our growing list of attractions as soon as we can.

“We apologise again for the inconvenience this has caused.

When the Skyflyer launches, visitors will be elevated 400ft in the air and will be able to take in panoramic views of the North Wales coast and beyond.

The attraction will be accessible to all, including wheelchair users, and features other support equipment for those with disabilities.

“Skyflyer”, which has no age limit, will also be joined on-site by “Big Red”, a 270ft zip line.

“From underground adventure golf, to flying high above the skies, all of our activities are fun-packed and perfect for an adventure getaway.”
