THE numerous campervans and other vehicles which were located on Rhyl’s East Parade promenade have now left the site.

An eyewitness told the Journal that “they arrived on Sunday (July 24)” and “have driven over the grass and ignored all signage”.

The eyewitness added that they saw someone “driving over kerbs” , before yesterday (July 27), “two ladies turned up and gave them some paperwork, then a few hours later, they packed everything up and left”.

Prior to their departure, Denbighshire County Council provided those travelling in the vehicles with bins and access to toilets.

Council to meet to discuss campervans and vehicles parked on Rhyl promenade

A spokesperson for Denbighshire County Council said: “Following our initial response to travellers setting up an unauthorised encampment parked on the promenade at East Parade in Rhyl, we are now aware that they have vacated the area.

“No further action by the council was required.”

This is not a new issue in Rhyl, after motorhomes were found to be parked illegally near the Eisteddfod Standing Stones on multiple occasions last summer.
