A GROUP of Prestatyn volunteers have cleaned the town’s railway embankment ahead of a visit from a judge of the It’s Your Neighbourhood competition.
The Friends of Prestatyn Railways Station have entered It's Your Neighbourhood, a non-competitive scheme for community groups who want to 'green up' local areas –adding some colour to their communities and making areas greener.
With a ‘Wales in Bloom’ judge set to cast their professional eye on the work at the station, committee members Ian Lifford, Chris Ruane, Dave Baker and Lesley Powell worked hard on the railway embankment, litter picking and generally tidying up.
A Friends of Prestatyn Railway Station spokesperson said: “It’s a difficult place to work, uneven ground surface, poor soil quality and steep slopes, but we were interested to see how the wildflowers that Ian and Chris had planted last year were faring.
“Some disappointment that one of our little crab apple trees has died, but the group once again thanked Teddy Bears and Teapots for allowing us to access the embankment via their garden.”
