LEGENDARY Manchester band James and singers Tom Grennan and Jack Savoretti, are to play huge outdoor shows at Rhyl Events Arena next month.
James will headline the arena on Friday July 8, supported by The Lightning Seeds and The K’s.
James’ 16th studio album, “All The Colours Of You”, was released last year, and the band played a number of festivals across the UK and Europe last summer.
“All The Colours Of You” is their first on a new label, Virgin Music Label & Artists Services, and a new publishing home, Kobalt Music.
James will perform tracks from the new record and many more from their back catalogue when they play Rhyl.
Pablo Janczur, from promoters Orchard Live, said: “We had a blast when we brought Sir Tom Jones to Rhyl, so we thought we’d come back for more!
“We can’t wait for this show, on a beautiful sunny summer’s day by the seaside, Rhyl is an amazing place for an outdoor concert by a legendary live band like James”.
The show is followed by Jack Savoretti, who plays Rhyl Events Arena the following night (July 9).
Jack returned last year with a new album, “Europiana”, and last played North Wales at Stadiwm Eirias in Colwyn Bay in 2018.
Support on the day came from the Queen of British Soul, Beverley Knight, one of the UK's most consistent soul artists for two decades, scoring several top 10 albums, including the platinum-selling “Voice: The Best Of Beverley Knight”.
Jack’s album “Europiana” - which he created between lockdowns and is his follow-up to breakthrough 2019 record “Singing to Strangers” - shot to number one earlier and was written with his friend and pianist Shannon Harris.
It is described as a "melancholic ode to the joy and freedom of travel" and its accompanying black and white video documents its recording at Abbey Road Studios.
Jack said that his playing conjured up "a Parisian late night club and I could see smoke in the air and hear the clinking of glasses - it reminded me of the first time me and my wife did a trip together to Paris’’.
Pop sensation Tom Grennan brings the weekend to a close on Sunday, July 10, on the back of a concert with Sir Tom Jones last year.
Discussing the themes behind his 2021 album “Evering Road”, which follows his 2018 debut “Lighting Matches”, Tom said: “This album has been such a therapeutic experience, it has helped me through one of the toughest times of my life.
“‘Evering Road’ documents a transitional stage for me, where I felt I’ve learnt so much and grown into a new man, moving myself into a new calm and positive space”.
Following the album’s release, Tom linked up with Calvin Harris for the collaborative single “By Your Side”.
Supporting for Tom’s Rhyl show comes from Ella Henderson, following the release of her second album, “Everything I Didn’t Say” – a diaristic, 16-track record.
“Everything I Didn’t Say” includes Ella’s fifth UK top 10, “Let’s Go Home Together” with Tom Grennan, and single “Brave” - a track about shaking the stigma of needing help and embracing someone’s support for you when you need them most.
