A derelict Victorian dairy could be partly demolished and transformed into a holiday let.
Owain Rowley Conwy of Bodrhyddan Developments Ltd has applied for permission from Denbighshire Council to convert the single-storey dairy building into one-bedroom holiday accommodation at Bryn Cwnin Farm on Pentre Lane, Rhuddlan.
Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust has been consulted about the building that dates back to 1838, despite reassurances that the building will be built in the same footprint as its current form.

The archaeological trust has advised that a full photographic record should be made of the building before it is converted – if it gets the go-ahead.
The advice from the trust reads: “A record will be made of the building and its historic fabric that is affected by the conversion, alteration, extension or demolition works.
“The record will provide a basic understanding of the form, function and any phasing of the standing building – and provide a photographic record of the historic elements of the building, prior to any construction work taking place.”
The applicant says the old dairy is currently being used as a farm storage building by a contractor renovating and converting the farmhouse and its outbuildings.
But Mr Conwy claims the old dairy has inadequate foundations and inadequate tying in of brickwork walls, resulting in cracking and rotational separation.
He also says the chimney is poorly built into the gable end resulting in separation and splitting. The brickwork has also eroded, as has the mortar pointing.
The proposed conversion will include repair work to deteriorated brickwork walls, reroofing, replacement windows and doors in existing openings and the creation of a new kitchen and bathroom.
The application will likely be debated at a future planning committee meeting – or decided by a decision delegated to officers.
