In the 25th anniversary year of their tragic crash, a new opera looks at the love story of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed.
A Silver Spoon tells the story in a unique way, featuring some of the most well known Welsh opera singers.
The opera premieres at Beaumaris festival on July 1.
Anglo/Welsh Composer Lisa Logan’s opera explores themes in a contemporary manner, with a cast including the renowned Welsh opera singer Jeremy Huw Williams.
It also stars Maggie Cooper as Diana and Sandeep Gurrapadi as Dodi.
The full-length chamber opera follows the story of two wanna-be East End gangsters and their plan to steal Princess Diana’s jewellery from a forthcoming Royal exhibition. It also tells the love story of Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed, as well as touching on the story of the Queen and how she has changed through her reign. It considers privilege, friendship, modern royalty and being born with or without a silver spoon.
