A WOMAN from Cwm has received a suspended sentence and is abstain from consuming alcohol after she was found guilty of wounding two people and resisting a policewoman.

Bronwen Jones, 28, of Tan Y Fforest, was accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding both Emma Williams and Samantha Hughes in Prestatyn on December 4, 2021.

Jones was also accused of resisting PC Nia Williams, while acting in the execution of her duty, in Cwm on December 5.

At Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on May 16, Jones was given a 12-month custodial sentence, suspended for 18 months.

It was felt that only a custodial sentence could be justified due to the seriousness of her attack and the injuries it caused.

But the sentence was suspended due to a realistic prospect of her rehabilitation, and the fact that she has four young children.

Jones is also to avoid alcohol for 120 days, must not contact either woman directly or indirectly until May 15, 2025, and is to undertake maximum of 30 days’ rehabilitation activity.

She must also not go within 100 metres of an address on Teras Penmorfa, Prestatyn.

Jones will also pay £200 in compensation, as well as £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

This amounted to a total of £285, to be paid in monthly instalments of £20 from July 16.

An application was also made for deductions from Jones’ benefits, at her own request.
