FRIENDS of Prestatyn Coronation Gardens recently enjoyed its first community picnic, but the event followed the sad news of the passing of one its members.
Eddie Roberts, who took on the role of the group’s secretary following its creation last November, sadly died on April 21, the day before the picnic.
The picnic was still a successful event, with Eddie “very much in our thoughts” throughout the day.
Those who attended the picnic enjoyed a delicious lunch, basked in the sunshine, and enjoy a game of quoits on the grass.

Gill German, chair of the group, said: “The children made daisy chains and played on the park, and it was a lovely afternoon of simple fun in the beautiful setting of Prestatyn Coronation Gardens.
“This was our first such gathering and we hope to hold more of these in the future.
“Very sadly, the day before the picnic, we found out that our secretary, Eddie Roberts had passed away suddenly.
“Eddie was at our very first meeting and stepped up to the plate straight away as secretary.
“We know that Eddie really enjoyed being part of the group and was looking forward to the picnic, so we felt sure that he would want us to go ahead.
“He was very much in our thoughts throughout the afternoon and we know that he was with us in spirit.
“Rest in peace, Eddie.”
