FRIDAY (March 25) saw the inaugural Rhyl BID Awards, celebrating and rewarding the best the town has to offer by shining a spotlight on those striving to help it shine.

Speaking at the Rhyl BID Awards 2022, held at Costigan’s Coworking, Abby Pilling, Rhyl BID manager, highlighted the encouraging participation which will deliver better times for businesses.

She said: “Congratulations to all the winners, and to each of our finalists, as you all represent the best of Rhyl, and your contributions to our community are vital, and clearly valued by the public.

“There has certainly been disruption inflicted by COVID-19, but the future is bright thanks to the efforts of the businesses and our partners who are working on a number of projects.

“As a team, we were delighted to see over 3,000 individuals cast over 6,000 votes, which is a testament to the business’ dedication to their customers.

“We would also like to extend our thanks to mayor of Rhyl, Councillor Diane King, for supporting the event with her opening welcome and the presentation of the awards.”

Cllr King added: “I was delighted to be approached by Rhyl BID to participate in this evening of celebration.

“To bestow awards in a variety of categories that highlight the accomplishments of hardworking businesses was an immense pleasure.

“There was a wonderfully positive atmosphere and enthusiasm from all those attending.

“With the continuing re-generation of our town alongside the dedicated and loyal businesses whose ultimate focus is to provide the best possible customer experience to all who visit their premises contribute to an all-around positive customer experience when visiting Rhyl.

“I would like to thank all the businesses in our town who have strived to continue trading during the past two challenging years and I am proud to continue championing at excellent events such as this which are the perfect platform for bringing businesses together to celebrate and acknowledge their successes.”

The Rhyl BID business champion award was presented to Denmore Premier Foodstore, which was created to give special recognition to a business that goes above and beyond to support its customers and community.

Angela Sykes, from Denmore, said: “The evening was a great success, organised by the Rhyl BID team.

“The food by Butteez was delicious, the chilled drinks served by Owain of Costigan’s very welcome, and it was a lovely opportunity to meet up and network with some of the businesspeople of Rhyl, some I'd met before and others who I created new connections with.

“There was a lovely buzz about the room; Costigan’s provided a great venue, along with the balloons from Personalize a Memory and the gorgeous glass star trophies from Scene Points.

“It was a real Rhyl event; for Rhyl businesses supported by Rhyl businesses. Many thanks also to Rishi from Place Support Partnership for sponsoring the evening & providing the lovely goody bags.

“Denmore Premier Foodstore as a team were delighted to win the business champion award 2022 and our staff were very pleased to be amongst some great finalists for the friendliest staff.

“It was great to meet the mayor, and that members of Rhyl Town Council and Denbighshire County Council came to show their support, too.

Following the success of the evening, Rhyl BID will now be making the awards an annual event in the calendar.
