A PENSIONER who died in a fire in his Prestatyn bungalow earlier this month has been named as 76-year-old Alfred Margette#, a retired welfare rights officer.
Firefighters who were called to the property in Stephen Road on March 15 found his body up against the back door.
At the opening of an inquest in Ruthin Kate Sutherland, assistant coroner for North Wales East and Central, said that Mr Margett’s son had tried to call him and when he went round to the bungalow he immediately saw the windows were blackened.
He tried to enter the property but was overcome by smoke, so called 999.
A post-mortem examination was carried out by Dr Mark Atkinson but he withheld a decision on the cause of death pending further investigations.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
