GWRYCH Castle will reopen in April for the first time since hosting I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! for the second consecutive year.

The castle was built between 1812 and 1822 by Lloyd Hesketh Bamford-Hesketh as a memorial to his mother’s ancestors, the Lloyds of Gwrych.

Since the Coronavirus pandemic, the castle has played host to the most recent editions of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, the ITV reality show that pits celebrities against each other to compete in tasks outside their comfort zone.

The Castle has also been modified and improved, with a new visitor route starting by going through the restored formal gardens, up to the outdoor theatre, and on to the coach house courtyard where the celebrity campmates spent a lot of time doing chores _in the area also containing the famous

phone box and the privy).

Situated off the courtyard is the coach house, which will now function as an

indoor/outdoor seating area for our pop-up sandwich shop, which marks the space’s first usage in more than 30 years.

After visiting the privy area, visitors will head down to stable hill via imposing arches to visit Cledwyn’s shop, and then down to the main terrace before heading to The Clink.

The interior area of The Clink will become the new souvenir shop, and features a

green screen that offers I’m A Celebrity fans unique photo opportunities.

Visitors will also be able to access the outside area of The Clink, which has been left

exactly how it was as the temporary home to Richard Madeley, David Ginola,

Arlene Phillips, Danny Miller, and Naughty Boy during the show.

A spokesperson for Gwrych Castle said: “The arrival of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out

of Here! has enabled us to enhance our visitor experience, along with carrying out

urgent repairs to secure the future of Gwrych Castle, after being the target of

arson, vandalism, and neglect for many years.

“We’re very much looking forward to opening on the April 1, as well as opening more areas as we progress through the extensive preservation and conservation project we have ahead of us.”
