CLWYD West MS Darren Millar has praised work on active travel routes in Towyn after a recent visit, and said they will be a huge asset to the community.

Mr Millar visited Tir Prince Country Park with Towyn and Kinmel Bay town councillors, David Johnson (Towyn ward) and Geoff Corry (Kinmel Bay ward) to see the improvements made.

Hundreds of thousands has been invested and the new paths improve access to Tir Prince Country Park and help to connect residential areas to the active travel network to promote healthier lifestyles.

Mr Millar said: “Walking and cycling are good for our physical and mental health, so it is important that we provide as many opportunities as possible for people to be more active.

“These new routes are a fantastic addition to the park and complement other improvements made by Towyn and Kinmel Bay Town Council in recent years, which include new benches and lighting.

“It is great to see Tir Prince Country Park getting investment in this way; it really is a great asset in the community and these new routes will be, too.

“I thank all those who have worked so hard on these improvements, including Cllr David Johnson who has been donning his waders to improve the park’s pond.

“I am sure that residents and visitors will be delighted with the new facilities.”

Cllr Johnson said: “I have been actively involved in the improvements at the park and the environmental improvements in the pond in particular and I am delighted how everything has come together.

“The active travel routes are a great addition and I am sure they will be well used.”

Cllr Corry added: “It is important that we create environments which promote physical activity as a normal part of everyday life and these routes do exactly that.

“I look forward to seeing them being used by people of all ages.”
