A GATHERING in Prestatyn has been organised to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine and those displaced by the invasion of their country.
This will take place outside Ty Nant, off High Street, at 5pm on Sunday, March 6.
Prestatyn and Meliden mayor, Councillor Sharon Frobisher, has invited all residents and well-wishers to attend.
A vigil to show support for Ukraine has also been arranged at Rhyl Events Arena on Saturday, March 5, starting at 2pm.
Sherry Edwards, who has helped organise the vigil, said: "Guto from (printing company) Gwasg Helygain has kindly offered to make some posters for us, and in the morning I'm off to Abakhan (fabric shop) to buy some blue and yellow material to make streamers.
"I was trying to buy some flags, but there is a shortage in the UK!"
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began on February 24 and has since seen attacks in numerous cities, leaving many civilians killed or injured, while it is estimated that more than half a million have fled their homes.
Last week, numerous MPs from across North Wales also condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine, with Vale of Clwyd MP James Davies saying: “The whole world must vehemently oppose Russia’s illegal and unprovoked invasion.”
