CHRIST Church Prestatyn are launching a public appeal ‘A Warm Welcome’ to help raise money for a new boiler system.

With annual costs for the church at around £60,000, a special gift day has already raised £5,000 towards the appeal.

The target is £30,000, which will firstly be for a new boiler, as well as a new circuit board for the bells so that they can again play tunes on the quarter hour, some repairs to the plaster and interior decor, and if finances allow them some improved signage.

Reverend David Ash said: “Old church buildings such as Christ Church are rarely warm at the best of times, with the height of the roof, doors opening frequently and various other sources of drafts, but now it is too cold to expect anyone, let alone older people to sit for any length of time.

“The regulars have given what they can, but it falls far short of what we shall need, so we are hoping that the good people of our wider community will help us out and show their own support for this local treasure of a building.”

Christ Church Prestatyn is a staple of the community, and is popular with those that attend christenings, weddings and funerals, or those supporting school, civic or fundraising events such as ‘The Prestatyn Festival of Christmas Trees’, also hosting popular plays and concerts as well as the usual acts of worship on Sundays.

To donate, visit justgiving.com/campaign/awarmwelcome, join ‘Heritage Friends’ giving a small amount every month just for the upkeep of the building (contact office@prestatynchurch.com), or give cash when the church is open for prayer again (Friday mornings 10am - Noon from 11th February).
