PRESTATYN Business Form has launched another risqué calendar for 2022 in aid of one of its environmental projects.
The ‘Whale Tails’ project was drawn up several years ago, which would see six 2.4m-high whale tail sculptures, acting as recycling bins and made of weathering steel, placed along the town's promenade.
Sally Smart, secretary of the forum, said that, with funding for the project proving harder to come by, particularly once COVID-19 struck, “I had lost 95 per cent of my photography work during 2020, so a friend suggested I shoot and make a calendar.
“With me being me, I couldn’t make a standard calendar, it needed to be something a little different… a naked calendar!
“It was the end of October and our firebreak lockdown had just started when I put plans in place to make the calendar.
“A fellow business forum member, Andy, contacted me as he had previously made two ‘Calendar Girls’-style calendars and had lots of words of advice.
“We had so much fun! Most ‘models’ were extremely nervous of exposing flesh but by the end of the shoot were laughing and confident.
“Most ladies had their underwear on or were undressed from the waist upwards. Most chaps were naked and a little cheeky.”
So successful was last year’s calendar, in fact, that Sally and the forum decided to recreate the calendar again this year.
Not only does she hope it will raise thousands for the project, but the experience of being involved with the shooting and creation of the calendar proved another memorable moment in her year.
Sally added: “The shoots have once again been the highlight of my year; so much laughing and innuendo which was good for the soul after an incredibly busy year.
“We are so close to our target now and we hope the calendars will raise a further £2,000 and the ball finishing the fundraising.
“The calendar is not for the faint-hearted, but I can’t thank those involved enough for being so brave for such a worthy cause.”
This year’s brave participants are from the following businesses:
• Central Beach Club
• Katie Walsh Hair
• North Wales Seal Research Organisation
• Patagonia Welsh Roots
• North Wales Roller Derby
• The Four Seasons Café
• Prestatyn Golf Club
• The Beaches Hotel
• Miss Mermaid Wales
• The Little Cheesemonger
• Tudor House Café
The calendars are on sale in the places listed above or can be purchased directly from the Prestatyn Business Forum by emailing prestatynbusinessforum@gmail.com.
