THE motorhomes parked near the Eisteddfod Standing Stones in Rhyl last week have now vacated the site, Denbighshire County Council (DCC) has confirmed.
Council officers visited the site last week and told the group staying in the campervans to move on by today (August 31), or face a S77 eviction notice on Wednesday morning.
But a spokesperson for the council has said they have already left the area.
This was the second sighting of motorhomes at the site in Rhyl in as many months, and was reported to DCC by Councillor Brian Blakeley (Rhyl South East ward) after he was sent a photo of them parked illegally.
Cllr Blakeley praised the way in which the council dealt with the matter, and is hopeful that the region has seen the last of what has becoming a recurring issue throughout the summer.
He said: “I’m very happy and have no problems whatsoever (with the council’s handling of the situation). There was no nastiness or heavy-handedness.
“There was evidently an agreement between the council and the leader (of the group travelling in the motorhomes) to move by the date they were told (August 31), but I did hear that they actually moved in advance.
“The site was left pretty clean, I believe. And what was left (behind by the group), the council did its job and left it in a very clean state.
“We’ll just have to keep our eyes on things. Hopefully, this doesn’t happen again for the rest of this summer.”
