A FUNDRAISER has been set up following the death of a police community support officer.

PCSO 3433 John McLoughlin, based in Rhyl, died on August 14 after a short illness. He was aged 48.

A gofundme page has been set up to support PCSO McLoughlin's family.

He leaves behind partner Sam and his two children, Ellis, 16, and Grace 10.

North Wales Police Federation posted on Facebook: "PCSO 3433 John McLoughlin, based in Rhyl, sadly passed away following a short and sudden illness at the age of 48. Among the many friends and family now mourning this tragic loss, John leaves behind a loving partner and his two children. It is impossible to put in to words the grief those who loved John now feel, as well as the impact his absence will have on their lives in the weeks, months and years ahead.

"The outpouring of love and support from John’s friends and colleagues has been a huge comfort to all coming to terms with this tragedy.

"Many of you have indicated a wish to support John’s family through these difficult times and this fund has been set up for those wishing to do so."

A spokesperson from North Wales Police said: "It is with profound sadness that we must confirm the death of PCSO 3433 John McLoughlin of Rhyl Police Station.

"John passed away on Saturday after a short and sudden illness at the age of only 48. Among the many people who loved and admired John he is survived by his loving partner Sam and his two children, Ellis, 16, and Grace 10.

"John served our community with compassion and consummate professionalism for many years.

"He exemplified the very best of the values of kindness, decency and public service. The loss of John will be deeply felt by all whose lives he touched, however we are comforted by the endless happy memories we have of him.

"Our deepest sympathies are with John’s family and friends at this tragic time”.
