A MAYOR who served an unprecedented two terms as mayor of Rhyl has presented two cheques to two charities.

Cllr Ellie Chard presented money to Glan Clwyd Hospital's Treasure Chest group. The breast cancer charity was one of two supported by the mayor during her time in office.

She handed over a cheque for £616.90 raised at a fish and chips get together held at the town’s St Mary’s Catholic Church. Diabetes UK Cymru, the other of cllr Chard’s chosen charities, had previously received £1243.49.

The councillor said: “My thanks go to all those who supported my fundraising events. After such challenging and uncertain times for all charities over the past year, it was especially rewarding to be able to provide these donations to such worthy causes.

“The donations will help with the wonderful work of both organisations.

"Treasure Chest supports those who have breast cancer and Diabetes UK Cymru helps people in Wales living with diabetes and their families.”
